To Reign or not to Reign! That was the contest! Drama played out in the McMurty Singles final at Belmont BC this morning between Raine (Jeff) of CI-Knock battling for the coveted VBL Singles Champion title against Rainey (Tom) of Old Bleach. There wasn’t much between these two gladiators for most of the game, with Tom finally crossing the 18th end tape 9 shots the better off, 17-8. Congratulations Tom, well done Jeff. By the way, it didn’t rain at all on these two.

E. Thornton Pairs
The Ards pairing of Paul Canning & William Angus are the 2025 Thornton Pairs Champions, overcoming Harry Cosgrove & Alan Roberts from Lurgan in a very competitive final, which was only decided on the very last end. With Ards 2 shots ahead, the Lurgan guys could only manufacture a single. Final score 17-16. Congratulations to Ards pair and commiserations and well done to Lurgan pairing.

Richardson Shield Triples
A closely contested final throughout with both triples playing well. The score 15-13 says it all. Congratulations to both sets of players.

The final score of 22-11 doesn’t do justice to this closely contested match. It was only over the last couple of ends that the shot count accelerated away from the Donaghadee four, otherwise it was nip & tuck contest throughout. Well done to both fours for an excellent game to watch.
