Presentation to Arvon

Arvon Bickerstaff has decided to ‘hang up his boots.’

Arvon was an extremely hard-working member of the VBL Executive Committee and in his tenure had undertaken most roles on the Committee and will be sorely missed. Arvon served as our President in 2011 and was the League Secretary for Zone B Sections 3 and 3A. Most, will of course regard Arvon as the ‘wee man with the yellow bucket’ who actively encouraged us all to donate to the VBL nominated Charity, Cancer Fund for Children NI at our various events. It is reckoned that throughout Arvon’s tenacity he has collected thousands of pounds for this Charity over the years. Derek McCann presented Arvon with a small gesture of the VBL’s appreciation. Everyone wishes Arvon many happy and healthy years in retirement. 

Harold Gilmour presented a bouquet of flowers to Margaret, Arvon’s good lady, who served the executive with tea, coffee and delicious homemade scones at our regular Committee meetings throughout many seasons, which was always most welcome on a cold winter’s morning.
