Past Winners – Division 1, Sections 1 (originally) and 2

Montgomery Cup.

This is the oldest VBL Trophy. It was awarded for the first season’s League competition. It is not entirely certain, but it seems the team at the top of the table won it. It continued this way, apparently, until the mid-1960s. There was no runner-up award initially.

By 1966 the Zone A and B concept was evolving.
There was a play-off at a neutral green between the teams at the head of each Zone’s top Section.

This competition was discontinued in this format.
Reformated in 1978 into 5 Sections (2 in Zone A, and 3 in Zone B)
For the first time, each Section will have trophies for both the winner and the runner-up.
Montgomery Cup re-allocated to Winner of Zone A Section 1
