Championships Finals 2024

Belmont Bowling Club was the venue for the finals of our VBL Championships on a sunny Friday afternoon 23rd August. VBL Executive thanks Belmont club for hosting these finals, and to their caterer.

In the blue ribbon event, Jeff Raine of CI Knock rained supreme by lifting the McMurty Singles Championships title in a deserving 17-8 win over Tom Rainey from Old Bleach. Congratulations goes to both players for producing an excellent match, much appreciated by the spectators.

In the Thornton Pairs final, the Banbridge pairing of Tony Bell & Martin Nelson triumphed over William Scott & Nigel McNally, Old Bleach in a close encounter 16-12. League Secretary Harold Gilmour present the cup.

Banbridge’s Kenny Stevenson, Ross Crawford & Brendan Davis were comfortable winners 26-6 in the Richardson Triples final over CI Knock triple of Jim McMullen, Ron McBride & Tony Wilson.

McCullough Four winners Jackie Carruthers, Jim Young, Tommy Brown & Ian McKinven from the Ulster Transport club proved too strong a quartet for the Donaghadee four of Kenny Campbell, Tommy Cheevers, Robert Humphreys & David Nelson.
