Unfurling of VBL Flag Season 2026

President Edward Evans (Old Bleach BC) unfurled the NI Veterans’ Bowling League flag at Old Bleach Bowling Club on Friday 24 April, thereby officially opening the 2026 veterans’ season in the presence of Past-President Messie Cullen and gathered representatives from various clubs. On a glorious sunny afternoon those participating in the Opening Tournament game enjoyed pleasant company and a delightful playing surface producing some very fine bowling. Afterwards, light refreshments was provided after the prize ceremony.

The winner of this year’s Opening Day Tournament was Ronnie Talbot of Old Bleach, no doubting some local knowledge at play there! Uniquely, there were 3 Runner-ups this year, with only 1 point behind the winner, John Bruce (Lisnagarvey), Stewart McDowell (Lisnagarvey along with Billy Scott (Old Bleach) shared this prize.

The President thanked Old Bleach BC for use of their premises and the caterer for providing the delicious buffet and finally closed the day by wishing all Clubs and players a very successful season.
